2) What this policy covers

Sroto helps a community compare the water sources it shares. Each week a household records which sources it drank from, how much, whether the water was boiled or filtered, and whether anyone was unwell. One phone, the collector, gathers these weekly reports and shows which source is most likely linked to the illness reports. Phones pass a village setup code, weekly report codes and the village result to each other by showing a code on the screen and scanning it with the camera, or as a file. This policy explains what the app handles.

3) Information the app handles

Sroto keeps the following only on the phone, in its own local storage:

We do not receive any of this information.

4) Codes and files

You decide when to show, scan or share a code. The village setup code contains the village key that the households of that village need; share it only with the people taking part. Weekly report codes are encrypted with that key. Result codes and shared result pictures contain only the community result. Anyone who has the setup code can use its village key, so the app cannot hide reports from another participant who has the same key. When you share a code or a picture through Android's share menu, the app you choose handles it under its own policy.

5) Internet

Sroto has no internet or network permission. It never sends your records to us or to any server.

6) Permissions

7) Storage, backup and deletion

Sroto's local database is not encrypted by the app. Cloud backup is turned off. When you move to a new phone with Android's device-to-device transfer, the app's local records may be copied to the new phone. "Stop collecting" deletes the collected household reports on that phone, and "Leave this village" removes the village data. Clearing Sroto's storage in Android Settings, or uninstalling it, removes all of its local data. Files and pictures you shared or saved elsewhere must be deleted where you put them.

8) Reporting a source name

If a source name is rude or names a person, "Report this name" opens an email draft in your email app. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and that email is handled by your email provider.

9) Advertising, analytics and accounts

Sroto contains no advertising, analytics or tracking service, and it has no accounts or sign-in.

10) Health and safety note

Sroto compares community reports. It is not a water test, a medical device or a diagnosis. It never says that water is safe, and it always asks you to get the water properly tested by the authorities and to seek care for anyone who is unwell.

11) Children

Sroto is meant for people aged 13 and over. Source names must never contain personal or abusive content; the app's Safety screen explains the rules and how to report a name.

12) International transfers

Sroto does not transfer data internationally because it does not send data to any server.

13) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at https://privacy.saifullah.ai/sroto.html and update the effective date above.
