Privacy Policy - Puriy
Puriy keeps everything on your phone. It has no account and no server, and it does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data. Your walking diary, the freezes you mark and your medicine times stay on your device unless you choose to share the doctor's report or save a diary file yourself.
1) Who we are

2) What the app uses and stores
While you have Puriy started, it reads your phone's motion sensor (the accelerometer) to recognise when you walk, so it can play a steady beat. The motion readings are used in memory only and are never saved.
Puriy stores, in its private database on your phone: each walk with the beat (start time, length, your measured walking pace and where the phone was carried), each "My feet got stuck" mark and each Beat now press, your usual medicine times and each "Took my medicine now" time, and your settings (where the phone rides, your walking pace and walking level from the calibration walk, the beat's sound, loudness and hold time). If you turn on the optional Call family button, it also stores the one name and phone number you enter.
3) Permissions and connectivity
Puriy does not request INTERNET or network access, location, camera, microphone, contacts or advertising-ID permission, and it has no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking software.
- Physical activity (
ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION): to feel your steps while you walk. - Notifications: to show that Puriy is ready, with Beat now and Stop.
- Foreground service for health, keep awake and start after restart: to keep following your steps while the screen is off, and to come back after the phone restarts if you had it on.
- Vibration: for the buzz on each beat.
- Phone calls (
CALL_PHONE, optional): only for the Call family button, and only when you press it. Without this permission, the button opens your dialer instead.
4) The doctor's report and the diary file
The one-page report is made on your phone. It leaves your phone only when you press Share and choose an app to send it with. Saving the diary to a file uses Android's own file picker; loading a diary file replaces the diary on this phone. We never receive either.
5) Health information
Puriy gives a steady beat while you walk and keeps a diary you can show your doctor. It does not detect freezes, diagnose, treat or prevent anything, and it is not a medical device. The walks, marks and medicine times it keeps are health-related information about you; they stay on your device as described above.
6) Data sharing and disclosure
We do not receive or share your Puriy data, because the app never transmits it. Data leaves the app only when you share the report or save a diary file. The apps and services you choose for that work under their own privacy policies.
7) Retention and deletion
Everything stays on your device until you undo a mark, load a different diary file, clear Puriy's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are turned off for Puriy, so the diary is not copied to your Google account.
8) Security
Puriy keeps its data in Android's app-private storage. Use a screen lock and keep Android updated, because anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app.
9) Children's privacy
Puriy is made for adults with Parkinson's disease and their families, and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app has no server, we do not collect personal information from children or anyone else.
10) Data sources and credits
The walking engine was built and tested on published research recordings (the Daphnet Freezing of Gait dataset; the Smartphone-Based Recognition of Human Activities and Postural Transitions dataset; the WISDM Smartphone and Smartwatch Activity and Biometrics dataset — all CC BY 4.0). Short excerpts of the Daphnet recordings ship inside the app for the "Try it" demo. No data about you is ever added to them.
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Puriy changes. The current version is always at privacy.saifullah.ai/puriy.html, with the effective date above.
