Focus & Flow helps people who stutter practice speaking on their own. While you read aloud or talk, it shows your pace, whether each phrase started gently, and whether your voice kept flowing. With earphones it can play your voice back a moment late or a little lower. Everything happens on your phone.
Focus & Flow does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. The sound of your voice is analyzed while you practice and is never saved. Only the practice numbers stay, and only on your phone.
Focus & Flow requests the Android RECORD_AUDIO permission so it can hear your voice while you practice. Before Android asks you, the app explains why in one line. The microphone is used only while a practice is running – from the moment you tap Start practice until you tap Stop – and when you measure your earphones' delay in Settings.
The sound is held in the phone's memory only for the length of one practice, so that the app can measure it. No audio is written to storage, saved to a file, or kept after the practice ends. When the result appears, the sound is gone.
If you choose Delay or Pitch, the app plays your own voice back into your earphones as you speak, a moment late or a little lower. This sound goes from the microphone straight to your earphones and is not stored. To measure your earbuds' delay, the app plays a short sound and listens for it; that sound is not stored either.
All measuring runs on your phone: pace, gentle and hard starts, and breaks in the flow of your voice. There is no cloud processing, no speech-to-text service, and no remote server. The app does not try to understand the words you say.
Focus & Flow does not use the Internet. The INTERNET permission is removed from the app, so it cannot connect to any server, upload or download anything, or talk to any outside service. The app's data is also excluded from Android's cloud backup.
For each practice, the app keeps a short record in a private database on your phone:
It also keeps your settings: your chosen pace band, your earphones' measured delay, and the mode and feedback you used last. None of this contains any sound.
Your practice records stay on your phone until you remove them. You can delete them in any of these ways:
When you update from the earlier Focus & Flow timer, the app removes that version's leftover settings and notification channel the first time it opens.
There is no account and no sign-in. We do not collect any information that could identify you, including:
Focus & Flow does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, authentication, or tracking services.
We do not share or sell personal information because we do not collect any. The app has no way to send data from your phone.
Focus & Flow is a practice companion. It does not diagnose or treat any condition and does not replace a speech therapist. The numbers it shows describe your practice and are kept only on your phone.
Focus & Flow is not directed specifically at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no data and has no Internet access, no information is at risk.
