Privacy Policy — HearWell
1) About this policy
HearWell is provided by Saifullah Ahad. This policy explains how the Android app handles information during personal hearing checks. The app is a check, not a diagnosis.
2) Information on your phone
HearWell stores the names or nicknames and optional birth years of people you add, hearing check results, tone responses and ear comparisons, tinnitus answer summaries and results, and your settings on your phone. Results can include the check date, language, scores, room-noise level, phone model and earphone or calibration information. Settings include your chosen language, check mode and calibration preferences.
The app uses this information to run checks, show each person's history and create PDF reports. It does not send this information to the developer. There is no app account, advertising, analytics or automatic crash-reporting service.
3) Microphone and room noise
If you allow microphone access, HearWell uses it only to measure room noise. It checks noise before a hearing check and can also show the room-noise level on Home and monitor noise during a tone check.
Sound is processed briefly in memory to calculate noise levels. No sound recording is saved, kept or sent. A numerical room-noise level may be stored with a check result. You can deny or revoke microphone access in Android Settings; the app then cannot measure room noise.
4) Android backup and moving to another phone
If your Android phone backup is on, Android's own backup service can copy the app's included data, such as people and check results, to your Google account. Android may also transfer included data when you move to another phone. This is handled by Android and your chosen backup account, not by the developer. Your phone's backup settings control this; HearWell does not promise that every setting or report will be backed up.
5) PDF reports and other apps
A PDF report leaves the phone only when you choose to share it or save it to a service outside the phone. HearWell does not send reports automatically. A report may contain a person's name and hearing results, so check the report and the destination before continuing.
Android's share menu and file picker let you choose another app or a storage provider. If you choose email, messaging or cloud storage, that service handles the report under its own privacy policy. Opening a website or contacting the developer also uses an app or service you choose; HearWell does not automatically attach your results.
6) Permissions and storage
HearWell requests microphone permission for room-noise measurements. It does not request internet, location, contacts or camera permission. Reports are saved in app storage or to the location you select with Android's file picker. Sharing gives your chosen app access to that report.
App data is held in Android app storage, including a local database and preferences. Your phone's security and backup settings protect access to this data; HearWell does not add separate database encryption.
7) Keeping and deleting information
Saved results remain until you delete them or remove the app's local data. Settings has separate controls for deleting test history and clearing calibration. Removing a person after confirmation also removes that person's linked results. Deleting test history does not delete all people or settings.
Deleting app data does not erase PDFs you previously saved or shared, or copies held by other people or services. Android backup copies are managed through your phone and Google account settings. The developer has no copy of your check history to retrieve or delete.
8) Family use and hearing concerns
If you add someone else, explain what the app stores and ask before sharing their report. HearWell does not provide a medical diagnosis. Speak with a qualified hearing professional about hearing concerns or symptoms.
9) Changes and contact
Updates to this policy appear at https://privacy.saifullah.ai/HearWell with a new effective date.
