CivicLoop Privacy Policy

CivicLoop is a personal logging tool that lets you record and keep track of local civic issues you notice (such as potholes, broken streetlights, or water leaks). To use the app you sign in with an account, and your entries are stored securely in the cloud so only you can see them. CivicLoop does not send your reports to any government office; it is your private record.

Information We Collect

• Account identifier: if you sign in with Google, your email address; if you sign in with your phone number, that phone number. This is used only to create and secure your account.
• An account ID automatically generated to link your entries to your account.
• The entries you create: the category you pick, the description you type, the location note you type, and an optional photo you choose to attach.

Location details in an entry can be entered as text or selected coordinates to document the issue. Firebase Analytics collects approximate location, app interactions, and device identifiers to improve app stability. If you send optional feedback, your message, optional email, and technical device metadata are sent to us so we can respond. We do not use advertising IDs, and we do not show ads.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used only to operate the app: to sign you in, and to save and display your own entries back to you. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Where Your Data Is Stored

CivicLoop uses Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage) as its backend. Your account and entries are stored on Google's secure servers and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Your entries are tied to your account so that only you can access them.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your data is processed only by Google Firebase, which acts as our infrastructure provider. We may disclose information if required by law.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your entries are kept until you delete them or delete your account. You can permanently delete your account at any time inside the app: open Profile → Delete account. This removes your account and all of your entries and uploaded photos. If you need help, you may also email us using the contact below.

Permissions

• Internet: required to sign in and to save and load your entries.
• Photos / media (optional): if you choose to attach a photo, the app opens your device's photo picker so you can select one. Attaching a photo is optional.

Children's Privacy

CivicLoop is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
